UNTIL Saturday 21st October
Join professional embroidery tutor Amanda Rymel for our latest hand sewing workshop and be introduced to the fascinating world of Bargello embroidery.
Bargello is a type of canvas work consisting of upright flat stitches laid in a mathematical pattern to create motifs. Although traditionally stitched in wool on canvas, Amanda has given it a modern twist using cotton perle on 18 count linen.
This type of embroidery is particularly hard wearing, making it well suited for use on pillows, upholstery and even carpets.
Bargello designs tend to be very colourful, using hues of one colour to produce intricate shading effects. For this workshop, Amanda has created a beautiful and original design using a range of 5 colours and participants will be able to choose from 2 different colour ways (subject to availability) to complete their pieces in either blues or autumnal shades.
During the class you'll be taught all the basics of this Bargello design and will be given enough threads, together with your needle, wooden hoop and instructions booklet, to complete your work at home.
The workshop is suitable for both beginners and those with some experience of embroidery and the price includes all materials and use of tools, together with lots of tea, coffee and home made cake.
Amanda Rymel is a professional hand embroidery teacher and graduate of the Royal School of Needlework tutor programme.
