Teddington RFC saw off a spirited Law Society side 31-20 to get their fourth straight win to begin the Counties 2 Surrey season.
Teddington made the short trip across Kingston on Saturday to take on a Law Society side looking for their first league win of the season.
Any thoughts that this would be an easy afternoon were quickly dismissed, with the hosts bringing a real physical edge to the set piece and forward exchanges.
An early penalty saw Law take a 3 point lead, but it was the familiar reliable boot of Teddington's Bob Beevers who responded with 3 kicks of his own to push the visitors out to a 3-9 lead.
When the Antlers skipper Jack Miller crossed soon after for a try, the scoreline was beginning to look comfortable, but the home side pounced on an interception to score their first of the afternoon and then quickly backed it up with another, leaving things finely balanced at 13-14 at halftime.
The boot of Beevers increased Teddington's lead after break but Law Society wouldn't go away as they hit back with their third try.
By now though the Antlers were starting to establish more of a foundation up front. Jack Miller completed his brace, Bob Beevers added a try to his impressive points haul and the fourth consecutive league win was secured. Teddington will travel to Old Blues RFC next weekend aiming to extend their unbeaten league record
Final Score Law Society RFC 20 Teddington RFC 31. Man of the Match Jack MILLER.
With no league action in the schedule this week, the 2nd XV welcomed Weybridge Vandals 2nd XV to Bushy Park on Saturday in a friendly fixture. With a host of debuts for the home side, it was fascinating to see how the new look side equipped themselves.
Two early tries from Weybridge, indicated it may be a long afternoon, but the Antlers organised themselves well and began playing some rugby of their own.
Tries from impressive new centre George Harrison and Man of the Match Andrew Greer were just rewards for the home sides efforts, but not enough to see the VANDALS to a deserved victory.
Final Score Teddington 2nd XV 12 Weybridge Vandals 27.
