Hampton and Richmond let a two-goal lead slip in the last 20 minutes to draw 2-2 at Torquay United in the FA Cup.

Jake Gray and Temi Babalola had given Hampton a commanding lead after 71 minutes and seemingly were in the hat for the first round draw.

Then Brett McGavin pulled one back and Shaun Donnellan added the equaliser so the National League opposition managed to get a draw.

The draw means Hampton and Richmond will be in Monday night's first round draw and will play their replay at the Rocket Hospitality Beveree Stadium on Tuesday.

Having weathered an early storm, the Beavers won a penalty as a Torquay defender blocked Ben Shroll's shot with his arm, Tommy Block's penalty was initially saved but Babalola followed it in and clipped it over the 'keeper and into the net.

Matteo Salamon made a huge save to keep Hampton in front as Ben Wyatt took aim from miles out and his shot arrowed towards the top corner but the on-loan QPR goalkeeper pushed it onto the bar and out.

Marcus Sablier then had the chance to double their advantage as he ran late into the box and chested down a cross but after sorting his feet out, he could only muster a shot straight at Mark Halstead.

In the 71st minute Gray thought he had won it as Babalola latched onto a loose touch from a Torquay defender and smartly backheeled it to Grey and from the edge of the box he curled it into the bottom corner.

That looked like it was that but one minute later Torquay pulled one back with an absolute screamer as Hampton headed away a cross but only as far as McGavin who on the half volley slammed it into the top corner giving Salamon no chance.

This energised the National League side and with eight minutes to play Dillon De Silva wriggled beyond his full-back on the touchline and chipped a cross in to find Donnellan to head home from three yards out.

Torquay could even have won it as Salamon is forced to push away a cross but it comes to De Silva and with only a defender on the line to beat he sent it over the bar.

In stoppage time Alfy Whittingham was denied on the line, Liam Vincent's shot was parried by the 'keeper straight to Whittingham but as he looked to have sent it into an empty net a defender scrambled back to hack it clear.
