Gary McCann is expecting a tough test against Welling United as Hampton and Richmond Borough return to league action this Saturday.

Hampton are on a high after putting six goals past Paulton Rovers in the FA Cup Third Qualifying Round last weekend, but are back at the Beveree again this Saturday to face Welling.

The Wings sit sixth in National League South and having gone full-time for this season, McCann expects them to pose a difficult test.

Speaking to club media after the Paulton game, he said: "It is going to be a tough game. They have recruited really well and I think they have gone full-time, three mornings a week and budget wise I think they are up there with one of the higher end budgets in the division.

"They are not underachieving, they are not overachieving, they are just achieving and doing well, so it is going to be a tough game.

"We are on the back of a really confidence and morale boosting win today and we know next week is going to be tough fixture.

"We have a working week, we have Tuesday and Thursday to get ready and hopefully should have one or two back in contention for next week.

"I am already starting to have a look at the second half, we looked at some of the first half at half time and we are already looking at bits and pieces on screen. The work never stops."

McCann will be hoping for his team to take their chances having been critical of their finishing despite scoring six goals in the FA Cup and he thinks that against tougher opposition that will need to be improved upon.

He said: "Against a more stingy defence where you won't be getting as many chances, we need to be more clinical and that is something I have shared with the group.

"Progression is all that is important when you find yourselves at these stages of the competition, but we were a bit wasteful and I didn't think we were as clinical and efficient as we should have been.

"We have to be honest with ourselves and with the chances that were presented to us we were not that efficient."
