Teddington RFC welcomed local rivals Twickenham to Bushy Park last Saturday looking to close out a phenomenal 2023 in style.

The encounter between these two sides back in September was a ferocious full-blooded affair, and the question was would the rematch live up to that first match.

In the end this one was nowhere near as close in terms of the result three months ago, but there were fireworks, in the form of lots of trys from the league leaders.

In fairness to Twickenham, they made the hosts graft for it as they constantly pegged back Teddington in the early stages of the game, but unfortunately for them they came up against an Antlers side in imperious form as they have been for most of this season.

For the record there were there were early trys for Harry SMITH, Jack VALENTINE, and Max AITKEN, before a Tom WILLIAMS brace opened up some daylight for Teddington, taking them into the interval 36-19 to the good.

From the restart the Antlers wasted no time putting their opponents beyond reach as AITKEN completed his trick and Huw MORGAN and Teddy GIBSON also crossed over.

Another commanding kicking display from Bob BEEVERS, ensured Teddington signed off the calendar with a thumping 67-24 victory.

This has been an incredible year at the club; the 1st XV have gone unbeaten throughout, collected the Counties 2 title and the National Cup last season and as the year draws to a close, they sit top of Counties 1 with a perfect record.

Plenty of tough challenges lie ahead in 2024, but for now it's time to reflect on a wonderful 12 months.

Final Score Teddington RFC 67 Twickenham RFC 24.
