Doubts over start of cricket season put financial pressure on Teddington Cricket Club

Teddington Cricket Club is appealing to its members for financial support following the uncertainty surrounding the start of the cricket season and the reopening of the new Pavilion because of COVID-19, it has been revealed.

In a statement the Club states: "As we are all aware there is now no doubt that the start of the cricket season will be delayed and there is significant uncertainty about when we will be able to start playing cricket and reopen our Pavilion for social activity.

"However, even with no activity, we continue to have significant operating costs related to the maintenance of the ground and pavilion.

"Therefore, the Committee has acted to reduce expenditure but, without income from subscriptions, bar and pitch hire, there will be a significant deficit in the club's finances for 2019/20.

"The Committee have discussed this and agreed that while the club is not currently open for business it does need to ask for financial support from its members.

"To our Vice Presidents and Life Members who have supported the club through the years we once again ask for your assistance. Your membership and fixture cards are ready for collection when we reopen or will be posted to you soon should you request this.

"As many of you have given donations in the past at this time of year, for those able and willing we would ask you to maintain this tradition. This can be done by bank transfer to the club account."
