A local cycling group is offering half-term cycle sessions for children in a bid to keep them active over the October week-long break.

Pedal Up was created in the summer of 2020 during the global pandemic by six Richmond-based women as they wanted to help people experience the freedom and confidence felt when riding a bike.

The cycling instructors work closely with numerous schools and also offer one to one sessions for adults and children.

With schools breaking up for half-term at the end of this week, Pedal Up have set up a Young Riders Course to provide parents with a fun and active option for their children.

The Young Riders Course will be taking place at Old Deer Park, Richmond, from Monday 24th October - Thursday 27th October and is suitable for children aged six - eight. Each session throughout the four-day period will run from 9.30am - 11.30am.

The classes will work to empower young riders with the skills and confidence needed to cycle on the road safely and independently by teaching correct road positions, priorities at junctions and essential communication and observation skills.

Due to the small group sizes, instructors get to maximise time with young riders ensuring they have time to thoroughly practice their cycling safety skills at many different junctions and locations compared to the training offered at schools.
