Police attended a call earlier today after a male suspect tried to break into an apartment in Teddington.

Upon spotting the police, the suspect attempted to escape on a bicycle, dodging two officers.

However, the police say a new recruit of 18 months from the force's Response C Team "faced down the suspect," managing to stop and detain the would-be burglar.

The suspect was found in possession of a pair of bolt cutters, and has now been arrested for burglary.
