According to City Hall, the Women's Rugby World Cup final at Twickenham was the biggest contributor to women's sporting events last year.

A report found that London generated more than £54.7m for the capital's economy, with the final at Allianz Stadium bringing in a majority of that money at £48.5m.

The game between England and Canada, which saw the red roses win 33-13, was played in front of a sell-out crowd of 81,885 fans - a world record attendance for a women's rugby match.

The BBC said the event was also the most-watched women's rugby union game on UK television, with peak viewership on their network reaching 5.8 million.

City Hall also revealed that London hosted 13 major women's sporting events in 2025 with more than 223 million people watching around the world.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: "London is the undisputed global capital for women's sport and our new report shows the significant boost it provides for our economy.

"From the thrilling Women's Rugby World Cup Final to historic return of women's tennis to the Queen's Club, 2025 was an amazing year for women's sport in the capital."
