Friday 2 February
Watch Six Nations Rugby at The Abercorn Arms
Catch all the action live on the big screen. Away from home distractions, you won't miss a minute of the international competition. The perfect meeting place: why not try a new ale on the pub's rotating taps every time you watch a game?
Panic - A Live Radio Musical, Hampton Hill Theatre, 7:45pm
Blending historical fact, a splash of fiction, a dose of comedy, and plenty of music, 'Panic' tells the incredible, behind-the-scenes story of Orson Welles' notorious 1938 radio adaptation of H G Wells' The War of the Worlds. Many Americans tuning in mistakenly believed that the drama was a news report declaring a real invasion from Mars! Was it an accident, or was it Welles' plan all along, so as to get a ticket to fame in Hollywood?
Hampton Wick Photography Exhibition, Hampton Wick Library, 10am-6pm
A free exhibition of work by local photographers, featuring different perspectives of Hampton Wick including empty, black and white streetscapes by Dave Rees, unusual angles by James Bell and arresting views from the park by Alan Crossland.
The exhibition aims to help people to see and appreciate Hampton Wick in new ways. Open on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Saturday 3 February
Exploring Icon Painting (two days), Landmark Arts Centre, 9:30am-4:30pm
The theme of this introductory icon painting workshop will be the quirky and fascinating saints who literally lived the high life – atop a pillar or in a tree. Using a combination of modern and traditional mixed media, we will create our own icons, according to a simplified, but authentic medieval panel painting process. Previous painting or drawing experience is not absolutely necessary for this entry level course as individual support and group guidance will be given for each stage.
The Future of Photography: Camera-less and alternative photography (two days), Landmarks Arts Centre, 10am-5pm
This two-day workshop will bring you on a 200-year journey through photography's rich history and introduce you to some of the earliest camera-less photographic printing processes and techniques. Far from being outdated, alternative photographic printing practices are experiencing a significant comeback, both thanks to their appealing visual qualities and the fact that they are more sustainable and environment friendly. Learners will be taken through the historical, technical, and creative aspects of fascinating alternative photographic processes.
Panic - A Live Radio Musical, Hampton Hill Theatre, 6pm
