Catriona Bourne Quartet

Emerging jazz sensation and multi-instrumentalist, Catriona Bourne brings her electric folk-inspired melodies to The Jazz Sanctuary!

Catriona is thrilled by the prospects of improvising and composing for the electroacoustic harp. Her passion for folk music blends seamlessly with her love for jazz, as evidenced in her original pieces for her quartet consisting of harp, guitar, bass, and drumkit.

Her notable performance at the 2023 EFG London Jazz Festival stands out. She has also debuted her album, Triquetra, with Francis Tulip, Joe Bainbridge, and James Owston, offering an impromptu journey into experimental jazz-folk inspired by her Scottish roots, evoking a sense of nostalgia for bygone times.

In addition, Catriona has collaborated with various artists, including world-jazz vocalist Lea Mondo and singer-songwriter Grace Angelica, gracing stages like Ninety One Living Room and Crazy Coqs.

She premiered a new children's opera by Georgia Barnes at the 2024 Isle of Wight Story Festival with Opera Prelude.

Moreover, she has been tasked with creating a brief harp and electronics soundscape for a forthcoming short film and participated in the 2023 cohort of Tomorrow's Warriors Jazz Strings. Her previous endeavours include a project celebrating John Coltrane's works with the Ali Barut quintet.

Quilting for beginners

Sunday 10 November, United REsponse, Teddington.

Image supplied

Join us for a wonderful day of creativity learning the basics of patchwork and quilting.

During the workshop, experienced local tutor Emma Randall will teach you how to rotary cut and piece blocks of fabric and then put them together to make either a small lap quilt or a table runner.

You'll then quilt it using some basic quilting designs and finish the project by adding the binding. If you don't get time to quite finish everything, Emma will make sure you have the know-how to continue at home, together with a full set of instructions.

We have sewing machines to use during the class (for a small fee of £10), though we do recommend that you bring your own machine if you have one, to help you to familiarise yourself with it better.
