Festive Rag Wreath Workshop
Saturday 16 November, United Response.
Why not create your own unique, vintage inspired wreath out of hessian and upcycled fabrics?
Come along to our festive workshop and learn the traditional craft of rag rugging. Using hessian, an old-fashioned rag rugging tool and a combination of t-shirt material, old silks, ribbon and lots of other fabrics, you'll learn how to design a wreath that you can use again and again.
During the workshop we'll introduce you to the age-old technique of shaggy rag rugging and also teach you how to cut the fabric strips, bind edges and finish your wreath.
If you'd like to make a wreath in a different colour scheme, just let us know in advance and we'll do our best to find appropriate fabrics.
The class is suitable for both beginners and people who've done some rag rugging before.
All materials and use of tools are included (though of course you're welcome to bring any fabrics and decorations of your own too), together with refreshments.
If you've been bitten by the rag rugging bug, then tools will be available to purchase at the end of the workshop.
The class will be run by Ann and Catherine from Handmade Workshops.

Artist Talk and Workshop at RuptureXIBIT
Saturday 16 November, RuptureXIBIT in Hampton Wick, 3pm-5pm.
RuptureXIBIT (+Studio) alum, Katya Granova is an experienced artist and teacher, currently taking residence at RuptureXIBIT the Front Gallery for November.
"Through her work, she seeks to establish a bodily connection with the forgotten histories of ordinary people and their authentic, everyday lives, often overshadowed by the narrative fostered by those in power. She interacts with the photographic documentation of these lives through bodily gestures and spontaneous colour choices, exploring, observing, and analysing her painterly responses toward them." - Taken from Granova's residency proposal
She'll be hosting a workshop and artist talk in conversation with Rupture's Kate Howe and Sally Minns, as well as a private view and open studio days near the end of her residency.
