It has emerged in recent days that a further £140 million will have to be spent on Crossrail - a project that is already billions over-budget.
Crossrail connects Reading in the west to Shenfield in the East and will also go through the heart of London.
Currently the Reading to Paddington section as well as the Liverpool Street section to Shenfield however the middle portion through central London is still yet to be completed.
Crossrail or The Elizabeth Line is just stage one in the project however the second stage, Crossrail 2 will have a huge impact on the people of Teddington.
The proposed route of Crossrail 2 starts in Surrey and South West London with four branch lines starting in Shepperton, Hampton Court, Chessington and Epsom.
Teddington would be on the Shepperton branch with these four lines converging at Raynes Park.
The route then proceeds through central London stopping at Clapham Junction, Kings Road Chelsea, Victoria, Tottenham Court Road, Euston and Angel.
After this the line splits again - one heading off to New Southgate and the other terminating at Broxbourne in Hertfordshire.
This line would represent a huge extra transport link for Teddington with a direct line to the north of London for the first time.
The service would also be operated by TFL rather than South Western Rail, the only train company at Teddington currently.
However don't expect Crossrail 2 to start construction anytime soon.
For a start the scheme would cost anywhere from £45 billion.
TFL also estimates that the earliest Crossrail 2 could be completed is the 2030s.
The route will be submitted for parliamentary approval in 2022.
So while Teddington may eventually get a much needed Tube line it will be sometime away.
