Hello. These are the latest Covid-19 statistics for Richmond upon Thames.
Over the last seven days we have identified 56 new cases of the virus in the borough.
That is more than double the number of cases identified in the previous seven days.
That means the total number of cases we have identified since March 2020 stands at 817.
There have been no new deaths directly linked with Covid-19. Therefore, since February, the total number of deaths stands at 153.
We have tested 2,089 people over the past seven days and have had a positive return rate of 2.5%.
Again, the positive return rate is over double that seen over the previous seven days.
We have always said that the rate of infection in Richmond is low. However, this week we find ourselves equal with the London average in terms of rate of infection.
Therefore, we need to treat this as a wake-up call.
We need to treat this as a warning. If we do not follow the rules we could find ourselves under further restriction and possibly a full lockdown like we saw earlier in the year.
It is absolutely vital that we follow the rules:
Washing our hands wherever possible
Wearing a face mask or covering when on public transport, in shops, supermarkets or similar enclosed public spaces
Maintaining a social distance of at least 2 metres
We also need to make sure that we are following the rule of six, so no gatherings of more than six people indoors or outdoors.
If you have symptoms, get tested and self-isolate.
We need to control the spread of the virus. And we need to treat this warning that these figures have given us seriously.
So please do follow the guidelines and stay healthy. Thank you.
