Local residents have now spoken out against the proposed Udney Park development plans.

We brought you an update of the plans two weeks ago which you can read HERE

Then we received a letter from Thamesians RFC Chairman Jonathan Dunn who expressed his thoughts on the matter HERE

Now local residents who live right next to the park have expressed their concerns about the potential development plans.

They have criticised the lack of dialogue between themselves and the developers.

We spoke to Ian Butcher who had a number of concerns with the plans.

Parking was one of the issues he flagged up.

Ian said: "When the playing fields are used the parking is a nightmare.

"The road is completely full during the week and cars are tearing up the verge.

"I've had to put notices on cars."

Ian fears that with these development plans this problem will only get worse and with only one entrance to the park traffic will be a huge issue.

It is unlikely that the dedicated parking area for Udney Park will be increased with this development.

Residents are keen to stress that they are happy with sports teams playing there however these developments will mean a lot of noise and disruption for residents.

Ian's neighbour Jake often can't watch TV in his own living room already due to the flood lights beaming in through the window from the park.

Residents are also baffled at why the playing fields in the park are right next to their houses rather than being in the middle of Udney.

Ian added: "No one will give any indication of length of time floodlights will be on till.

"The playing fields are surrounded by houses so this development will really invade our peace and quiet."
