Bike hangars are soon to be installed in 11 streets across Richmond Borough with two coming right here in Teddington.

The locations were chosen following requests and consultation with residents. A consultation on a further 20 will be held later this year.

Councillor Alexander Ehmann, Chair of the Environment, Sustainability, Culture and Sport Committee, said:

"This is good news for bike owning residents in these streets who don't have gardens or enough room inside their homes to securely store their bikes.

"Making it easier for local people to switch to two-wheeled transport is a key element of our commitment to tackle climate change and I hope to be in a position to install a further 20 later this year."

Cyclehoop will be building the units in Teddington on Cambridge Road and Walpole Road.

Each hangar can safely and securely store up to six bikes and are accessed by people who have signed up to the scheme, which is being run in partnership with Cyclehoop, paid a membership fee and been given a key.

When the hangars are installed, residents can apply to rent a space in their nearest hangar by going to the Cyclehoop website.
