Twickenham Lib Dem MP, Munira Wilson, has released a statement following yesterday's vote in the House of Commons, which called for an immediate ceasefire in the Israel - Gaza war.
The vote, was on an SNP amendment to a government motion on its plans for the year ahead, presented in the King's Speech last week.
It called for an end to the "collective punishment of the Palestinian people" and urged "all parties to agree to an immediate ceasefire".
It was defeated by 125 votes to 294, with the Conservative Party opposing it.
56 Labour MPs, rebelled from the party line in the vote and 10 frontbenchers, including Jess Phillips, have resigned from their roles as a result.
The Liberal Democrat Party were calling for an immediate bilateral ceasefire and had submitted an amendment, which called for a two-state solution, an immediate bilateral ceasefire and that Hamas should not be in charge of Gaza.
Their amendment was not selected for a vote.
In her statement, Ms Wilson said: "Today, the House of Commons voted on the ongoing crisis in Israel-Gaza.
"Our Lib Dem amendment was not selected for a vote which was very disappointing.
"Instead, we were put in a position of voting on two amendments that were far from perfect, a Labour one that failed to call for a ceasefire and an SNP one that failed to mention a two-state solution."
She added: "The Lib Dems will always vote for any progress towards peace. Therefore, I voted in favour of both amendments.
"Whilst they both should have gone further, together they came closest to reflecting my own, my constituents' and my party's position.
"We must continue to put pressure on this government.
"It is incumbent upon the UK and the rest of the international community to move towards a sustained and diplomatic solution."
She finished her statement by saying: "As the humanitarian situation continues to worsen, with no sign of the hostages being released and the death toll climbing higher, we cannot afford otherwise."
