A former ambulance hall in Teddington could be converted into a three-storey house.

A planning application has been submitted to Richmond Council seeking permission to demolish the former St Johns Ambulance Hall building and its three brick-built ancillary buildings on Park Road and convert the site into a three-storey residential dwelling with a private garden.

The existing structures, comprising the main hall building (believed to have been constructed in the 1940s – 1950s) and three brick-built outbuildings, have been used throughout their operational life by St John Ambulance for office administration and first aid training.

Ambulances and patient transport vehicles were parked on the forecourt but mechanical maintenance was not carried out on site. The site is now vacant and the buildings are redundant.

As part of the conversion, Red Melon Properties also hopes to add a biodiverse green/brown roof consisting of of specially designed modular trays containing superior, engineered substrate, and fully established flowering sedum.

Richmond Council expects to make a decision on this application by 11 November.
