If you've ever strolled down Avenue Gardens in Teddington you may have wondered why there seems to be a house with a traditional red post box by the front door.

Well the answer is dog related. Richard Gough who lives in the house provided us with the answers.

Richard's dog, Loonie, tended to rip up the post when it came through the door - not ideal for reading your letters.

So while on holiday in Suffolk almost 20 years ago Richard decided to buy the red post box from a local ironmongers.

This meant that the postman could come and drop off the letters in the post box without any chance of Loonie getting to it first.

Sadly Loonie died around 10 years ago but the post box still remains on the house to this day.

So if you go past just remember - don't post your letters through it!
