Unfortunately it is time to bid farewell to The Fabric House in Teddington.

The shop on Broad Street is set to close its doors for the last time tomorrow (Saturday August 29th).

Earlier this summer we brought you the sad news the shop was scheduled to close.

The owner of the shop is in her 80s and a combination of declining health and the current pandemic means that the hard decision to close the shop had to be taken.

The shop had been open for 25 years and with the lease up for renewal soon the owner decided to close the business.

The owner, Valerie, told TW magazines:

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers, many of whom have supported us over the years with repeat business as they have moved around the borough, some even returning when they have moved some distance away. It has been a pleasure to meet you all.

"Over the shop's lifetime, it has been loyally supported by father-and-son team, Ray and Chris, who have measured, fitted tracks, and hung curtains and blinds, offering advice to customers and showing our finished products to their best advantage."

Chris will continue to offer such a service and can be reached on his mobile: 07706 404470.

The shop has called Teddington 'a very special place'.

Customers took to Twitter to express their disappointment of The Fabric House closing.

One said: "Such a shame. Great knowledge and service over the years."

Another added: "How sad!"
