Teddington's Christ Church has been a strong supporter over the years for a local homeless charity which aims to improve the lives of those experiencing homelessness.

SPEAR, is an organisation operating in south west London with the sole function of enabling people experiencing homelessness to find secure accommodation and work towards a positive future, achieving personal hopes and aspirations.

Christ Church invited Bruce Warman of SPEAR to the parish's Harvest Thanksgiving Service on Sunday where he spoke of the vital work the charity carries out within the Teddington community and across south west London.

Speaking to Nub News, Reverend Dominic Stockford said: "God provides for us in so many varied ways - the ones which all of us are aware of tend to be our physical needs. But we should remember and give thanks for the spiritual gifts God blesses us with as well.

"Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, never let us forget this - in 1952 she asked all to, 'Pray for me on that day – to pray that God may give me wisdom and strength to carry out the solemn promises I shall be making, and that I may faithfully serve Him and you, all the days of my life'. It is by God's grace, and with His gifts, that we can serve those around us."

Christ Church continues to collect goods which are donated to SPEAR including tinned food, household items and financial donations which aid the charity in their ongoing projects.

With the current cost of living crisis, those less well off are finding every day life particularly difficult to manage, and so Christ Church is calling on the Teddington community where possible to offer up donations including tinned food, toiletries and everyday household items.

Donations can be left at the Church on Wednesday mornings between 10.30am - 12.00, and on Sundays after service between 12.15 - 1pm and in the evening during 7 - 7.30pm.
