Teddington World Cup Group D Preview: The competition starts TOMORROW

5th Nov 2021 | Local News

The Teddington World Cup of Hospitality kicks off next week and there are 16 excellent venues ready to try and become the champion of Teddington.

In Group D we have four wildly different forms of hospitality so here's a quick reminder of what they are all about.

Remember the World Cup will be contested between 24th and 28th August on Twitter and Facebook.

Group D will take place on the 25th and the polls will run between 9am and 4pm.

So without further ado here's a quick line about all the restaurants, pubs, delis and cafes in this contest.

The Teddington Arms

The Teddington Arms on the high street is definitely one of the most popular pubs for food and drink in the area.

Here's how the pub describes itself:

"The Teddington Arms has established itself as the place to be in town. From lively drinks parties, quiet cosy dinners and much needed office shin-digs, it is perfect for all occasions. The new-look is stunning making customers feel warm and welcome.

"On the High street of this family friendly, commuter hotspot, the pub is always ready to serve with a smile to residents, locals and out-of-towners alike."

The pub also regularly shows live football.

The Fallow Deer

Located on the high street this is another of Teddington's most popular cafes - and were our first volunteer for this World Cup competition.

Here's how they describe themselves:

"We re a friendly independent family run herd, sourcing produce locally where we can and baking all our cakes in house thanks to our lovely chaps in the kitchen. Not to mention our big breakfasts/brunches, delightful lunches and tea & homemade cakes.

"We serve tasty artisan breads & selection of gluten free options too. We have created a small but beautifully formed wine list to suit the most discerning of tastes & a weekly changing menu of craft beers to keep you on your toes!"

Cafe Mimmo

This is another popular cafe located on Broad Street.

This Cafe may just make the best breakfast in Tedddington - but you'll have to be the judge of that.

Here's one glowing TripAdvisor review that gave the Cafe five stars:

"We've had brunch/lunch here several times over the last few months and never been disappointed. Good, friendly service, good choice of dishes available including vegetarian and vegan and at reasonable prices. Try it."

Gosia

Another Broad Street venue here - and it is another cafe.

This Polish cafe also has a lot of good reviews to choose from - so here's our favourite:

"I've walked past Gosia's on many occasions and thought one day. And today was that day, I felt I'd done enough exercise in lockdown to deserve a treat.

"The biggest challenge when walking past is seeing how amazing the cakes look. Next challenge is choosing what to have, the array is amazing. I love cheesecakes, but how to choose is I went with the carrot and pecan.

"I also picked up a plum crumble for my mother. The ladies serving were lovely, and so very careful, which is obviously critical during these times. At all times I felt safe in their actions."
