Teddington World Cup Group A Preview: Italian vs English with a hint of French

5th Nov 2021 | Local News

The Teddington World Cup of Hospitality kicks off next week and there are 16 excellent venues ready to try and become the champion of Teddington.

In Group A we have four wildly different forms of hospitality so here's a quick reminder of what they are all about.

Remember the World Cup will be contested between 24th and 28th August on Twitter and Facebook.

Group A will take place on the 24th and the polls will run between 9am and 4pm.

So without further ado here's a quick line about all the restaurants, pubs, cafes and Delis in this contest.

The Wharf

Here's how The Wharf describe themselves:

"Idyllically set on the riverbank at Teddington Lock, The Wharf Restaurant offers diners a picturesque and relaxing environment away from the hustle and bustle of London living.

"Offering an eclectic mix of modern British and European cuisine with some vibrant Asian influences.

"From traditional favourites such as Beer Battered Fish and Chips and a variety of 30 day aged steaks that will make your mouth water, to more adventurous fare such as Tuna tataki, wasabi, ponzu lime, or Roasted rump of marinated lamb, pea purée, grilled baby gem, capers & anchovy dressing.

"All freshly cooked and with a strong emphasis on both locally sourced and seasonal ingredients, The Wharf is a culinary delight waiting to be discovered."

Girasole Deli

Here's how Girasole describe themselves:

"We're an independently owned Italian Deli in Teddington, we've been serving coffees and Italian food SINCE 2000.

"We're proud of our products and we rather work long hours instead of buying pre-made food.

"We will never serve a dish that we wouldn't eat, because quality is what makes us different."

The Deli is located in a prime location on Teddington High Street.

Piazza Firenzi

Here's how Piazza describe themselves:

"Our Restaurants combine quality food and great service with a long established reputation lead by a family run team. Our staff are helpful and it's our aim to provide you with excellent service and food so you'll want to return again and again.

"Our menus are changed to incorporate seasonal dishes and we always have weekly specials."

This relatively new Italian already had branches in Hampton Hill and Godalming, Surrey, before opening on Teddington High Street.

The Kings Head

Here's how the pub/restaurant describe themselves:

"Our open kitchen shows we are as serious about our food as we are about our ales and our wines – the menu features French brasserie dishes with an English pub twist, and everything is cooked fresh on the premises such as duck confit with citrus sauce and our famous, light & fluffy cheese souffle.

"Our drinks menu boasts an unrivaled hand-picked wine list alongside some wonderfully esoteric craft ales and beers. If you fancy something different why not try an artisan gin or smokey whisky..."

You can find The King's Head on Teddington High Street.
