RUILS, the local charity which supports disabled children and adults with long term health and mental health conditions to live independent lives has received a donation of £581 through the ongoing partnership between Teddington's popular Wharf restaurant and the community lottery Get Lucky Local.
The charity raises funds to help those with challenges be part of the community and to live life to the full providing information and advice. RUILS has delivered 2.600 food parcels and made 3600 befriending calls to isolated clients since March this year.
The riverside restaurant has invited diners to donate an additional 1 pound to their bills for the month of September and then generously matched the donation to buy tickets for the lottery.
RUILS CEO Cathy Maker said: re so grateful to The Wharf and Get Lucky Local for supporting Ruils and helping to spread the word about our work. The pandemic has significantly impacted the lives of the young disabled people we support, especially their social lives and mental health. The £581 raised will help fund our FriendBee befriending service, enabling young people to get out and about with a befriender to enjoy activities of their choice."
The owner of The Wharf, Barbara Spain: "We are delighted to support such a worthwhile charity as RUILS which does such a fantastic job in the community."
The GET LUCKY LOCAL lottery was launched last November and is raising over £50,000 a year for Good Causes and 61 community projects across the borough are now signed up.
