Teddington: Roadworks around Bushy Park's Diana Fountain to go ahead in March
Teddington's Bushy Park has announced that essential roadworks will be carried out around the Diana Fountain in March.
Works to resurface 2,674m2 of park road around the fountain will take place between 7 - 9 March which will lead to the closure of Hampton Court Gate and the Diana Car Park to motor traffic.
The old, damaged asphalt surface will be removed and a new surface will be laid.
Despite access to the nearby playground and kiosk likely to be affected, a steward will be situated at Hampton Court Gate to provide access to pedestrians and cyclists.
Teddington Gate will remain open as per its usual opening hours as will the Upper Lodge Road Car Park during the works.
A public notice from Bushy Park read: "Between 7th and 9th March, Hampton Court Gate will close to motor traffic while we resurface the road. A steward at Hampton Court Gate will provide pedestrians and cyclists with access. Teddington Gate will remain open as usual, and Upper Lodge Road Car Park will be reopened for the duration of the works. We apologise for any disruption."
The Royal Park has also reminded visitors that the Pheasantry Cafe will remain shut until late April to allow for refurbishment works.
Visitors will still be able to enjoy hot drinks, cakes, pastries, sandwiches and hot savoury snacks from two new kiosks that are operating outside the closed cafe.
The existing kiosk and seating area at the entrance to the Woodland Garden are working as normal.
