Teddington residents sent to Peterborough and Isle of Wight for coronavirus tests
Getting a coronavirus test can be very important and something you should be able to do easily.
However a number of Teddington residents have been told to make journeys of 100 miles to get a test.
Local MP Munira Wilson today revealed on Twitter some of the far-flung places Teddington residents have been sent to for a test.
These include Peterborough in the East Midlands or Welwyn Garden City in Hertfordshire.
However today on Twitter Teddington resident Kevin Wood may have received the most ridiculous location yet.
He said: "I'm a Teddington resident & a constituent. I've just tried to book a Covid19 test only to find that the nearest site is nearly 3 hours drive away and... wait for it... on the IsleofWight! Question. Do I go on the ferry as a foot passenger? Or take my car?"
Yes he has been told to cross the sea in order to get a coronavirus test.
People being sent on long journeys to have a test has now become a national issue.
Health Secretary Matt Hanock told the BBC: "It's true we've put a huge amount of testing into the areas of outbreak where the number of cases are much higher.
"If people need a test, the vast majority get it quickly and close to home.
"But when those testing centres are full then obviously people are offered a test at the nearest place where one is available."
