Primary Schools in Teddington are preparing to open their doors again.

The government is allowing schools to reopen to Reception, Year One and Year Six students from the first of June.

Collis Primary School on Fairfax Road is preparing to open on June 1st although starting with a two week trial week and then reviewing after June 15th.

Head Teacher Kevin Hogston said:""I reassure everyone that any decision made on our reopening is based on what is right for our children, families and our staff.

"We all want our children to return to school as soon as possible, but it is imperative we do it in a safe, controlled and phased way."

A number of restrictions have been introduced by the school such as limiting the class size to 15 pupils and staggering break times and pick ups.

The school will also be providing PPE for staff and ensuring that anyone in the school who has coronavirus symptoms says at home.

On Wednesdays the school will remain closed to all pupils except those of key workers to perform a deep clean.

Sacred Heart Primary School on St Marks Road will begin partially reopening to Reception, Year One and Year Six children from June 8th and with similar strict regulations.

Initially a two week trial period will be in place and class sizes will be limited to 15 pupils who will be kept separate from each other in 'bubbles.'

Head Teacher Bernadette Smith said:"We all want our children to return to school as soon as possible, but it is imperative we do it in a safe, controlled and phased way."

Stanley Primary School on Strathmore Road also plans on reopening partly on June 1st with similar restrictions.

In each school and across the country it is up to parents about whether they feel it is safe for their child to return to school.
