Teddington Police promises to crack down on cyclists causing antisocial behaviour

Earlier this week, Teddington Ward Neighbourhood Police arrested a man for failing to stop for police, cycling on a footway, and assault with intent to resist arrest.
This comes after several residents raised concerns regarding antisocial behaviour associated with cycling at the Hampton Wick and South Teddington Ward Police Liaison Group Meeting last Thursday, 20 February.
At the meeting, the local police team explained that it is continuing to hand out fines for cycling on the pavement.
The team revealed that it has made three prosecutions recently for the misuse of electric bikes and scooters and that it is targeting and seizing such vehicles when they are operated illegally but it mentioned that this is "time consuming".
Despite the work being carried out by Teddington's local police, cyclists continue to cause problems for residents of Old Station Gardens and Victoria Road in Teddington.
In light of this issue, Councillor Richard Baker said that he will take the matter up with Councillor Charlie Engel and will arrange the promised meeting between councillors and residents.
