On 24 October, a "vigilant" resident's call to police led to a suspect being arrested for theft of a push bike from the Teddington BR station and being in possession of an angle grinder.

Teddington MPS said: "Thank you to the for your quick call which led to this positive result."

Data shows that there were 963 reported bike thefts in the borough of Richmond Upon Thames in September.

South West London Police said: "On 25 October 2024 0041hrs, police were called to a male attempting to steal a bicycle with a angle grinder, on Station Road in Teddington.

"Officers arrived and searched the male under Section 1 PACE, and cannabis was found on the male. Officers also found a white carrier bag containing a discarded angle grinder near where the male was stopped.

"He was arrested for going equipped, theft of a pedal cycle and posession of cannabis."
