Staff from Teddington Memorial Hospital and community supporters joined Twickenham MP Munira Wilson to celebrate the newly enhanced facilities for children and teenagers in the Hospital's Urgent Treatment Centre and garden.

 The enhancements include creating a more welcoming and age-appropriate waiting area, consultation room and treatment room for children and young people; and refurbishing the garden and outdoor seating area.

 The work was funded by a £11,000 donation from the League of Friends of Teddington Memorial Hospital. 

This included money raised by local riverside hotel and resort, The Lensbury, who named the League of Friends as their 'Charity of the Year' for 2023, and £1,200 from the Teddington Society.  

 The children's waiting area has now also been equipped with an interactive play projector funded by Kingston Hospital Charity through their Innovation Fund. 

The garden refurbishment was carried out thanks to local landscape gardening firm, Enable Infrastructure.

 "Teddington Memorial Hospital plays such a vital role in the health of everyone in our community," said Munira Wilson, MP for Twickenham.

"So many children and families have benefited from the care they've received here, and the enhancements to the paediatric facilities will help make the experience even more welcoming for children. It's been wonderful to see the local community working together to make this happen."

 Chairman of the League of Friends, Simon Douglas Lane, said:"This refurbishment creates a welcoming, child-friendly environment that brings comfort and calm to young patients and their families.

 At the celebration Ms Wilson also unveiled a painting titled "After winter comes the Spring" by local artist Karen Iredale Lucas, commissioned by a Teddington patient and regular supporter of the hospital, Mr Lord Tomlin.  

 Palmyra Gardens have also supported the hospital with a Christmas tree and outdoor Christmas decorations.
