Teddington Lock footbridges to close this week

Richmond Council has given notice to introduce temporary closures for the Teddington Suspension Footbridge and Lock Cut Footbridge to facilitate environmental agency works at Teddington Lock.
The order will come into effect this Friday (8 August) and the works are anticipated to be in progress for a maximum of six months. The order will remain in force for a period of six months, to allow for unexpected events and possible remedial works.
While the works take Place, the closure will be in place from the base of Teddington Lock Footbridge to the end of Lock Access Road.
An alternative route for pedestrians affected by the closure will be available via Kingston Bridge or Richmond Bridge (A305).
The prohibitions apply only during such time and to such extent as indicated by prescribed traffic signs.
Nothing in the Order applies to:
- Any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works or any public service or utility vehicle.
- Anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police officer in uniform or a civil enforcement officer; or any vehicle being used for Polce, fire brigade or ambulance purposes.
Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.
