Teddington Hockey Club's (THC) 2022/23 season gets going a week on Saturday which will be marked with their annual Senior Club Day.

Saturday 10th September will see the renowned hockey club welcome members and fans to a series of friendly matches including the Ladies 1s vs London Wayfarers at 10am and the Men's 1s vs Wimbledon at 4pm followed by a drinks reception.

Following a year's postponement courtesy of the lockdowns enforced by Covid-19, this summer allowed the oldest hockey club in the world to celebrate its 150th anniversary.

The landmark achievement was celebrated over the weekend of the 18 – 19th June bringing members old and new to raise a glass celebrating the rich history of the sport.

An 1871 commemorative match was played in Bushy Park as well as an exhibition match with legends of the game in attendance including captain of the gold medal winning GB Olympics squad from the 1988 Seoul Olympics, Richard Dodds and his teammate Kulbir Singh Bhaura.

A tree planting ceremony was also held, and celebrations were topped with a memorable 150th Gala Dinner at Kempton Park on Saturday evening.

Whilst the celebrations will be firmly embedded in the club's history books, THC will be keen to hit the ground running this season, and this year's Senior Club Day provides the club with the perfect opportunity to dust down their hockey club's and gear themselves up for a gruelling 2022/23 campaign.

The Men's 1s will be looking to improve on their 6th place finish last season whilst the Ladies 1s will be aiming to mount a serious title charge after finishing second in the 2021/22 London Women's Premier Division.
