Teddington: Improving signs in Bushy Park could have "huge impact" on wildlife and littering
IMPROVING the signs in Teddington's Bushy Park could have a "huge impact" on wildlife welfare and littering, according to a Royal Parks manager.
The charity made the statement as it opens a survey on new signage for Bushy and Richmond Parks.
Visitors are being invited to have their say on the phrases, letters and colours that make up the signs posted around the parks.
The public consultation follows numerous incidents in the parks of visitors not following the signs.
For example, dogs chasing deer when they should have kept on their leads, people getting close to and feeding wild animals, and litter being dumped rather than put in the bin.
Lucy Kellett, Interpretation Manager for the Royal Parks, stressed the importance of upgrading the parks' signage.
In an email to park supporters she said: "It's important work as even a small increase in the percentage of people who read and follow the signs can have a huge impact on wildlife and the amount our charity spends on things like clearing litter.
"As one of our supporters we'd really value your opinion on what tone of voice works best. We've put together a short survey featuring a few examples and we'd love your feedback."
"The survey should take around five minutes and will give you an opportunity to help shape how we present information to millions of people each year."
