Teddington entrepreneur launches UK-wide platform to simplify hiring tradespeople
By Lawrence Lowe 7th Apr 2026
A 24-year-old entrepreneur from Teddington is aiming to change how homeowners across the UK find and hire tradespeople, after launching a new platform designed to make the process faster, simpler and more transparent.
Lawrence Lowe, who lives locally, has recently launched Quotes by Trades. This website allows homeowners to submit a single enquiry and be connected with relevant, local tradespeople for their job.
The idea grew from his earlier project, TW Trade Hub, which focused specifically on the TW postcode area.
That platform acted as a testing ground, helping him understand both sides of the market, from homeowners trying to get work done, to tradespeople looking for consistent, fair opportunities.
Speaking about his platform, Lowe said: "I built TW Trade Hub to see if the idea actually worked at a local level.
"What I found was that both homeowners and tradespeople were frustrated, but for different reasons.
"Homeowners often struggled with the time and effort required to find reliable trades, while many tradespeople expressed concerns about existing lead generation platforms."
He added: "I've got friends and family in the trades, and they've always said the same thing.
"A lot of the existing platforms can feel unfair, overly expensive, inconsistent, and don't always deliver quality enquiries. That's something I wanted to improve."

This experience led to the development of Quotes by Trades, which expands the concept nationwide. The platform is designed to streamline the process by allowing users to describe their job once, rather than contacting multiple tradespeople individually.
Lowe says the goal is to create a system that works better for both sides.
He continued: "For homeowners, it's about saving time and making things easier. For tradespeople, it's about receiving clearer, more relevant enquiries without the usual friction."
Despite the national scope, the platform still maintains a strong local focus. Town-specific pages have been created to ensure users can find relevant services in their area.
One example is the Teddington plumbers page and the website itself can be found here.
Although the platform is designed to scale across thousands of towns in the UK, Lowe says starting locally remains important.
He added: "Teddington is where I'm based, and it's where everything started. Even though the platform is growing, the idea is still rooted in helping local people solve real problems."
As a young founder entering the technology space, Lowe is building the project independently, with a focus on long-term growth and continuous improvement.
He said: "I'm still early on in the journey, but the aim is to build something genuinely useful. If it helps people get their jobs done more easily, and gives tradespeople better opportunities, then it's doing what it's supposed to."
