A planning application has been submitted to Richmond Council seeking to add an extension and new entrance to a church in Teddington.
The application, which is for St Mary with St Alban Church on Ferry Road, involves "the proposed extension of the church to the north with a new entrance".
Moreover, "The development proposals for the site involves the demolition of the vestry extension to the north and removal of Irish yew tree, T1".
The proposed development is described by the applicant as the extension to the parish church to provide a new hall and toilet facilities following demolition of the existing choir vestry.
The removal of one Irish yew (T1) and protection of remaining trees and graves is also proposed.
Outline proposals are as follows:
Demolition of the choir vestry.
Removal of hardcore.
Digging of foundations.
Erection of extension.
The church is located north of Ferry Road and the A313 Twickenham Road borders the site to the southwest.
The River Thames is approximately 200m north-east of the site and the St Mary's Parish Hall, Landmark Arts Centre and public park is located to the southeast.
Should the application be approved, the applicant hopes to start construction in November 2025.
However, Richmond Council expects to make a decision on this application by 17 December.
