A Teddington children's theatre company has announced it will be performing at Kingston's Rose Theatre this summer after a tough year for small businesses and the arts industry.

Dragon Drama have run improvisation workshops for infants, children and teenagers in the Teddington and Hampton Wick area for almost 30 years and have famous patrons including Colin Firth, Dame Judi Dench and rising theatre star Grace Molony.

But the group had to adapt in 2020 to the new social distancing restrictions brought about by the pandemic, performing outside in summer and putting out improvised videos over the January lockdown.

Now after what the group describes as "a year in the dark" they are delighted to be back with their show Reckless Mirth.

The team said: "Dragon Drama presents RECKLESS MIRTH: a historical comedy charting the rise and fall of a man's 'strange and beautiful alternative dream'.

"After a year of dark theatres, a cast of dazzling young performers burst back onto the stage to celebrate merriment as the summer begins.

"Wayward witch-hunters, punk rock Native Americans, braggadocious pirates, and puzzled priests make up the cast of big and small Dragons who will take to the stage at The Rose for the finale of the International Youth Arts Festival. Not to be missed!"

The show is part of the International Youth Arts Festival 2021, a yearly showcase of young creative talent put on in Kingston and run by arts charity Creative Youth.

Tickets for their show are available here but seats are limited so get them while you can!
