Local Hero in Teddington has applied to Richmond Council for extended operating hours, the ability to play live and recorded music on selected days, and a licence to supply alcohol instore from 5pm – 10pm on Thursdays and Fridays.

The café, located in 59 High Street, is currently open 7.30am – 4pm Monday – Friday, and from 8am – 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

However, it would like to extend its operating hours to reopening from 5pm – 10.30pm on Thursdays and Fridays after its 4pm closure so that it can "prepare for the sale of alcohol".

Local Hero has also asked the council for permission to have live music on the premise until 10pm during these extended hours on Thursdays and Fridays and to play recorded music until 10.30pm on the same days.

To help prevent disorder in the local area, the café chain writes in its licencing application that it will "Ensure that staff are thoroughly trained in safety and are able to responsibly serve alcohol".

It also says it will "Ensure that good quality CCTV cameras are functioning and have a wide and visible angle of the premises" to prevent crime and disorder.

To prevent public nuisance, Local Hero states that it will "Ensure that the area surrounding the premises is clear from litter and we communicate our opening times with our neighbours and local community".

And to protect children from harm, it will "Have strict policies in regards to allowing under-18s into the premises after a certain time".

Residents have until Wednesday, 9 April 2025 to make representations.
