Teddington bakery to close in April
By Tilly O'Brien 26th Feb 2026
A bakery on Teddington's High Street is set to close in April.
The Cavan Bakery will shut its doors on 16 April after being in Teddington for 17 years due to renewal difficulties with the building's landlord, but hopes to find an alternative premises.
A message from the bakery's Managing Director, Nicky Taylor, appeared in the shop's window today (Thursday, 26 February) informing customers of the news.
The message reads: ""After more than 17 wonderful years trading from 25 High Street we have taken the difficult decision to close this shop on 16th April.
"At our most recent lease renewal, we were unfortunately unable to agree reasonable terms with our landlord.
"In particular an uncapped service charge has been imposed which would be unpredictable and could, over time, seriously jeopardise the long-term future health of our business. As responsible stewards of a local, independent company, we cannot take that risk.
"The decision is not a reflection of the success of this shop, nor of the incredible support we receive from our customers, for which we are deeply grateful.
"We have loved being part of this community and are proud of the role we've played on the High Street for the past 17 years.
"We are actively looking for suitable alternative premises in Teddington High Street and are committed to continuing to serve the community wherever we can.
"Importantly, all colleagues from this shop will be offered continued employment elsewhere in the business.
"We will continue to bring our freshly baked bread, morning goods, savouries, sandwiches and cakes to the Teddington community at our nearby shops at 42 Broad Street and 111, Stanley Road.
"Thank you for your loyalty, kindness and customer of the years. Warm regards Nicky Taylor, Managing Director."
