Fears that a beloved pub in Teddington would be closing its doors for good have been put to bed after the pub retailer and brewer, Greene King, announced it would be taking over the premises which is set to re-open by the end of October.

On Saturday October 1, the Teddington high street pub issued a notice saying: "We are sad to inform you that we will be closing our doors on Saturday the 1st of October. From everyone at the Teddington Arms, thank you for all of your support."

Residents were quick to express their sadness at the sudden news, as the pub had become a renowned spot for its live music and showing of various sporting events.

However, a Greene King spokesperson has since stated to Nub News: "I can confirm the Teddington Arms is simply closing for a refurbishment and is due to re-open by the end of the month."

Locals had been quick to reassure those fearful of the Teddington Arms permanent closure on the online neighbourhood hub, Nextdoor, with one saying: "Do not worry it's not closing forever. It's having a refurb and my brother is taking it over, it should be open in 3/4 weeks."

Another resident added: "Glad to hear it's not closing forever! That would have been sad. I look forward to seeing what the new venture will be!"

Founded in 1799, Greene King is now the country's leading pub retailer and brewer, running over 2,700 pubs, restaurants and hotels in towns, villages and city-centre high streets across England, Wales and Scotland.

Teddington Nub News will keep readers updated on the current refurbishment of the Teddington Arms and when they can expect the official reopening of the high street pub.
