Sweatshop Teddington rebrands - but team and love of running remains the same
The Sweatshop in Teddington on Broad Street is set for a rebrand.
The running retailer will be known as Sports Direct Running when it reopens in the spring.
However, despite the name change their commitment to running remains the same.
Manager Tim Starkie, who has worked for Sweatshop in various roles for 25 years, told Nub
News: "What Sweatshop offers is staying exactly the same. "We'll also have brand new fittings and fixtures when we reopen." The team for the store also remains the same as when it closed its doors prior to the latestnational lockdown.
Sweatshop was brought by Frasers Group back in 2014 and the name change is part of a
national rebrand. Before Sweatshop became a household name it started as an independent running shop righthere in Teddington, in 1971.
The shop was founded by Chris Brasher, an olympian and London Marathon co-founder.
It has been an incredibly tough time for retail however there is now a light at the end of the
tunnel. If the government's roadmap goes to plan we will see non-essential shops open on April 12th.
