Suspected arson at Royal Hampton Wick Cricket Club as Met police make public appeal

Police suspect arson at Royal Hampton Wick Cricket Club, Bushy Park, as the pavilion was on fire at 3:15am this morning.

Officers from Richmond and Royal Parks are currently at the scene with London Fire Brigade and have appealed to the public for information.

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled a fire on Park Road in Hampton Wick overnight and finally put out at 5:24am this morning.

Crews from Kingston, Surbiton, New Malden, Richmond and Surrey Fire & Rescue attended the scene

A single-storey sports pavilion was destroyed by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Celebrating its 160th year, the Hampton Wick Royal Cricket Club was founded in 1863 and its ground is situated at the Kingston end of Bushy Park.
