Statement from Udney Park Trust

5th Nov 2021 | Local News

"The Directors of the Udney Park Trust would like to thank to everyone that has supported Udney Park for the 5 years since Quantum submitted a late bid after the Imperial College tender closed, this terrible scheme to build on a Park has been comprehensively rejected.

"The UPPF Trust would also like to thank The Teddington Society, LBRUT and Sport England for consistently opposing building on Udney Park through the entire Planning process.

"It is amazing that Teddington has raised over £100k to be represented at the 14 day Public Inquiry, we have created a powerful precedent that will help many other communities protect their green spaces.

"If Udney Park had been lost at a Public Inquiry it would have opened the floodgates for more Parks to be bought on speculation for alternative uses.

"There is much interest in a charitable "Plan B" that preserves all of Udney Park for ecology and community use. The Trust will be urging the current owners to exit Udney Park gracefully and sell to the community, under the "Asset of Community Value" legislation.

"Parks have never been more important."
