Faery Trails at Strawberry Hill House & Garden

Friday 22 August - Sunday 24 August, Strawberry Hill House & Garden.

First, the faeries need your help in the garden! A curse has been put onto their woodland by a group of pixies and they need your help to lift it with faery magic. Hunt through our secluded gardens, creeping around ancient oaks and peeking under the bushes to uncover hidden fairy doors & clues. Pick up your Faery Trail Guide for £2 in the café and once you've completed your adventure return to pick up your fairy treat.

Next come inside to spot faeries in the magical rooms of Strawberry Hill House. Entrance to the house is free for under-5s and £7.25 for kids aged 6-16. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Dress up in your faery or wizard gear, and don't forget to snap a magical #FaerieSelfie to share with the world! The house and garden are open 7 days a week during school holidays and Saturday-Wednesday at other times. Garden entry is free.

500 Years of the Bible in English

Monday 25 August, Elmfield Gardens, 11am.

The reading will take place in Teddington's Elmfield Gardens (Image supplied)

500 years ago William Tyndale completed his translation of the New Testament into English. When printed copies arrived in England in 1526 it was the first time people here could read the Bible in their own language. On August 25th, Bank Holiday Monday, we at Christ Church are commemorating that remarkable, and significant moment, by holding a public reading of a few passages from Scripture in Elmfield Gardens, Teddington.

We will begin at 11am, and the passages will take about 20-25 minutes to read. They will be very well known excerpts from the Bible, and a couple will be read from Tyndale's own translation. Even if you cannot attend, please remember this moment in history, and thank God for what He enabled Tyndale to do.

(Later this year, October 4th, we have a conference at which Brian Edwards will be speaking about Tyndale - about whom he has recently published a book. See our website for full details. All are welcome to attend.)
