Summer Creative Workshops @ Landmark Arts Centre – from Monday, 3 June
Teddington's go-to arts venue has a number of creative workshops starting next week.
Whether you want to learn how to paint dragonflies with a zoologist and botanical artist, join a choir dedicated to improving the wellbeing of its members, or perhaps just create to your heart's desire and find your creative voice with mixed media: there's something for everyone!
Kids can join in on the fun with classes like Animation for Beginners, available for children aged 10 and older no matter their experience level.
All the courses mentioned run weekly for four to six sessions starting Monday 3 June. Visit the Landmarks Arts Centre website here to check out the full range.
Swinging in the 60s @ Teddington Constitutional Club – Saturday, 1 June
Whether you're a mod, rocker, hippy or skinhead, all are welcome at Teddington Constitutional Club.
Merseybeat, surf, Motown, cheese, rock, ska and just plain pop are all on the menu at the club this Saturday.
Come join a friendly (if slightly worn out) bunch of party people of varying ages, who are old enough to know better, for some reasonably priced drinks and old school vinyl.
The night kicks off at 7:30pm until midnight. Tickets are £5, cash on the door only, with prizes handed out for the best outfit of the night.
Shakespeare's Women with Jude Kelly @ The Exchange – Saturday, 1 June
Following on from recently directing the sold out world premiere play reading of 'Shakespeare's Women' at The Globe, Jude Kelly takes us on a journey of exploration of some of the great female characters in The Bard's works.
Who were the real-life inspirations behind these characters, what do they teach us about gender politics in 16th Century society, and how contemporary are the themes and challenges that these women faced?
From Juliet to Desdemona, Portia to Ophelia, Lady M to Kate Shrew , Jude will demonstrate the huge emotional power and complexity of these famous female roles.
The event starts at 7:30pm at The Exchange in nearby Twickenham, with tickets starting from £13.
