Keith James – The Songs of Nick Drake – Thursday, 7 March

Start your weekend a little early with the songs of national treasure Nick Drake at Landmark Arts Centre.

He recorded three cherished Albums between 1969 and 1972 but was almost entirely unknown in his day, and after his tragic death in 1974 – aged only 26 – his music almost disappeared into obscurity.

However with this performance from Keith James, you can relive these short few years.

Keith James has played over 1,000 concerts worldwide over the last six years, being the first artist ever to bring this intriguingly fragile music to Theatres and Arts Venues across the UK in its pure live concert form.

Nick Drake biographer Patrick Humphries described Keith's show as 'A fresh and powerful approach to these wonderful songs' .

The show runs this evening, 7 March, at 7:30pm.

Stepping Out – Until Saturday, 9 March

Hampton Hill Theatre is showing Richard Harris' Stepping Off until this Saturday.

Forty years since its West End premiere, this hilarious and heart-warming play hits the TTC stage with a chorus line of wannabe toe-tappers, who might just have it in them to make it big.

Performances start at 7:45pm Thursday 7 & Friday 8 March, and 4pm Saturday 9 March.

Creative Writing for Beginners – Saturday, 9 March

The small workshop size means plenty of personalised help from local teacher and writer Janette Simpson (Photo: Handmade Workshops/Janette Simpson)

Do you have an interest in writing and don't know where to begin?

Or perhaps you want to ensure you're submitting perfect copy as a Nub It contributor?

Look no further.

This writing workshop with local teacher and writer Janette Simpson will provide you with a variety of fun writing exercises to get you going, where you will learn that it is all about the journey, not the destination.

All experience levels are welcome, and there will be lots of tea, coffee and homemade cake included to help creativity (a technique this editor will happily endorse).

With only eight places available, sign up now to avoid disappointment.

The workshop runs from 2:15pm to 5:15pm.
