The final joyous and tearful episode of the award-winning US TV series Ted Lasso set in Richmond aired across the world today.

The three series of the show starring Jason Sudeikis as the American sports coach brought in to manage Premier League AFC Richmond have won the hearts of fans across the world.

And while the film crews have packed up and the series finale has aired, the show is expected to create a lasting legacy for the area.

The leader of Richmond Borough Council, Cllr Gareth Roberts, told Nub News: "I'm sure I won't be the only one who'll be incredibly reluctant to say goodbye to Ted.

"Having Richmond play a central part in the series has had an incredibly positive effect on the borough, and on Richmond town centre in particular."

He added: "We've been incredibly fortunate to host this wonderful, feel-good show in our local area and I have no doubt Ted's legacy will live on through the visitors who will continue to flock to Richmond to see the locations with which they've become so familiar over the last few years."

Many of the area's landmarks have played a starring role in the Apple TV+ series, including Richmond Green, the surrounding paved streets, the Princes Head pub, Richmond Riverside, Church Street, Twickenham, and many more.

The cast and crew, including many British stars with an affinity to Richmond, including Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Juno Temple and Nick Mohammed, have become stars in the USA and beyond through their association with the show.

At the same time, many other members of the cast have spoken of a new found love for the area.

For example, the co-creator and star, Brendan Hunt, who plays Coach Beard, told Nub News that he had fallen in love with the area, saying: "Richmond Green has been a very important part of the story and while the Green may not seem a big deal to most people we don't have parks like that in the States, surrounded by houses and businesses – it's beautiful."
