Six Nations trophy lands in Teddington!
England celebrated becoming 2020 Guinness Six Nations champions earlier today in an unconventional presentation at their training base at The Lensbury Club in Teddington.
The entire squad and coaching staff have set up camp at The Lensbury Club in Broom Road and returned there earlier today after their decisive 34-5 victory over Italy in Rome yesterday afternoon (Saturday, October 31).
A special gantry was set up in the grounds of the club so the players could be presented with their winners medals by captain Owen Farrell and a firework display marked the presentation of the trophy for the cameras.
The squad made their way from their special quarters at the hotel across a special walkway with coach Eddie Jones and were greeted with an impromptu burst of applause by the Lensbury members who were in the grounds at the time.
England's Maro Itoje carried the trophy from the ceremony to their quarters where they have been in a 'bubble' for over two weeks.
They were allowed to leave today to join their families before reporting back next Friday where they will be tested again for Covid-19 before the start of the Autumn Nations Cup on November 14th.
Captain Owen Farrell happily smiled for fans and said: "We know how difficult things are for everyone at home at the moment and we've been saying all through our training camps how we want to do our bit to make people smile.
"Hopefully we've done that and we'll do more of the same throughout the autumn.
"It's a massive achievement for us as a group to win the Six Nations in the strangest year and circumstances.
"We really think we can continue to get better and achieve more for England.
"We're turning our attentions now to the Autumn Nations Cup, we want consistent success and we're working hard to be better in each and every game."
