Residents at Richmond's three Council-owned care homes will continue to receive round-the-clock care and support following the appointment of Agincare.

The new partnership will help make sure older residents, including those living with dementia and people with more complex needs, can continue to live safely, comfortably and with dignity at Whitefarm Lodge, Greville House and Laurel Dene.

Councillor Piers Allen, chair of the adult social services, health and housing services committee and chair of the health and wellbeing board, said: "Our care homes are places where residents should feel safe, supported and valued.

"This new partnership is about protecting that quality of care now and for the future.

"We are pleased to welcome Agincare to Richmond and look forward to working with them to support residents, families and staff through a smooth transition."

Following a competitive tender process, Agincare Homes Holdings Ltd has been appointed to manage care services and facilities at the three homes.

The contract focuses on quality care, good outcomes for residents, support for staff and long-term stability.

As part of the new contract, care staff will be paid at least the London Living Wage.

This will help attract and keep skilled carers, support continuity for residents and families, and recognise the important role care workers play every day.

Agincare is a family-owned care provider with more than 40 years' experience delivering care and support services across the country.

The provider has worked closely with the Council and Care UK to support residents, relatives and staff as management transferred.

Agincare Chief Executive Raina Summerson said: "We are happy to be working in partnership with the council.

"We are delighted to warmly welcome residents, relatives and teams at the homes in Richmond to Agincare and look forward to getting to know them and their local communities further in the coming weeks."

The new contract concludes the Council's current 25-year PFI contract with Care UK. Care UK will continue its long-standing relationship with Richmond Council by supporting residents in other care homes across South West London.

Agincare took over management of the care services and Council-owned buildings from 1 July 2026.
