Richmond Council sees biggest increase on festive light spending across all London boroughs

A new report by Monster-Mesh compared FOI data across 73 UK councils, revealing where festive budgets are being cut and boosted.

Across London, Richmond Council is expected to increase its festive light display budget by the highest percentage Year on Year (89 per cent).

In 2024, it spent £5,153, however, this is expected to increase by around £4,604 this year, reaching a forecast of £9,757.

Nearby Wandsworth Council is in second place with an increase of 60 per cent and a budget forecast of £80,000 for this year.

However, Tower Hamlets has the largest budget in 2025 across London, with spend estimated to reach £130,010, signifying a two per cent increase since 2024.
