Richmond Council offers funding to Teddington residents to support Refugee Week events
By Tilly O'Brien 30th Jan 2026
To mark Refugee Week, Richmond Council is offering grants of up to £2,000 to support local events that celebrate the contributions of sanctuary seekers, in line with this year's Refugee Week theme of Courage.
Refugee Week, taking place from 15 to 21 June, is a UK-wide celebration recognising the resilience and contributions of people seeking sanctuary.
Richmond Council said: "If you are a local voluntary or community group, share your idea and help us celebrate courage, community and welcome. We can help bring your Refugee Week events to life.
"As part of our commitment to being a Borough of Sanctuary, the Refugee Week grants scheme supports voluntary and community organisations in delivering activities and events for Refugee Week. Find out more about activities we've funded."
The fund will be awarded on a rolling, first come, first served basis, so early applications are strongly encouraged. The scheme will close once all funding has been allocated.

Richmond became a borough of sanctuary in June 2024 and the council reaffirmed this by offering support to people seeking safety from persecution and conflict back in October.
